on “Bathwater”

This is a selfish book. I did it simply to collect a portion of my archive in one, easy to find place. Some of these projects needed to be recorded and saved, others needed to be put to bed so I could escape them, finally. This is not a pretty book, and far from comprehensive, but it serves its purpose in silencing these works so I can continue onward.

You can order a copy here.

CONTENTS, with mild context

  • UNCOLLECTED POEMS (2010-2024)
These are poems ranging from my first attempts through recent failures. These are poems that may have appeared online, but never in a chapbook or full-length collection.
  • the silent crucifixion (2022)
I have included this chapbook in its entirety. It was originally published by Between Shadows Press and marked the first time I truly felt close to my poetry, and really connected with it.
  • triskaidekaphilia (2023)
Another complete chapbook, this time full of minimal poems, a form I also feel a deep connection with.
  • Carolina SD Photographs (2013)
These old photographs come from rural North Carolina, mostly from a secret creek that I miss dearly. While these aren’t fantastic photos, again, they were the first I took that I felt were on the correct path.
  • Haiku 2023
I have always written haiku. In 2023 I began writing them for Twitter, and following their restrictions.
  • DOVE STA AMORE (2015)
An early short film I wrote. This is rough to re-read and I am not at all happy with it, but it did lead to my first screenwriting jobs and some great opportunities.
  • MINA AND ARTHUR: SCENARIO FOR A MARLENE DIETRICH MUSIC VIDEO (2019)
A music video scenario I still hope to realize. It is a retelling of the Mina Loy/Arthur Cravan story, set to a beautiful song by Marlene Dietrich.
  • BROKEN DIGITAL ALCHEMY (2020)
A series of tests done during lockdown, experimenting with photo editing software.
  • et la pluie dit (2024-2025)
The newest work collected. To practice my french I wrote these 26 short poems. This was recently released as a chapbook (which can be purchased here). For that release I wrote the poems over 26 of my wife’s digital portraits.
  • A Prayer (2013-2024)
This poem will never be finished. I will always be working on it, changing it. And that is completely fine. It is my life’s work. I started it shortly after I began dating my wife, knowing I would one day marry her, and on that day gift her the poem. Including it here is mainly a way to preserve it as it was on our actual wedding day.
