On 08/02/2024 Sacred Bones Records will be releasing the album Cellophane Memories by Crystabell and David Lynch. The lead single from the album is the above Sublime Eternal Love.
I absolutely adore this track. The vocal overlays and manipulations are hypnotic. Crystabell’s voice is gorgeous as always. Below are the lyrics, for which Crystabell and Lynch share credit, that I borrowed from Genius.
When he saw it
Coming ’round and shining
He fell down crying
And trembling
Calling out he cried
Cried for understanding
Voices came
And the noise turned to music
And the notes had feeling
A feeling of love
A sublime love
Eternal love sublime eternal love
The story of this album is quite interesting as well. Below is a quote from the official press release for the album:
The origin of Chrystabell and David Lynch’s album Cellophane Memories comes from a vision that David experienced during a nighttime walk through a forest of tall trees, over the tops of which he saw a bright light. As he recalls it, the light became the lilt of Chrystabell’s voice and revealed a secret to him. It is from these mysterious convergences of light and sound, day and night, starry sky and black forest that Chrystabell and David’s collaboration has continued to blossom.
A number of comments on the video are expressing their upset with the track. I think their upset isn’t with the track itself, but with the fact that it isn’t a new film. Over the past few years (since the truly amazing Twin Peaks revival that featured Crystabell’s acting talents) there have been a myriad of rumors that a follow-up or new project would be released. Some of these rumors were in relation to his legendary unmade project Antelope Don’t Run No More, others to a proposed series named Wisteria that was meant to be set up with Netflix.
This track really shouldn’t come as a surprise. He has released a number of albums and collaborations (including one with perhaps my favorite musician Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse), and his work has always included a great deal of music, especially the great Bang Bang Club performances in the revival of Twin Peaks.
I am tremendously excited to get my hands on this album and dive into the rest of the tracks (listed below). I’m making a supreme effort not to let this first single set up any expectations, for quality, tone, or calm.

01 “She Knew”
